The Scientific 7-Minute Workout is as HIIT routine utilizing a bunch of exercises selected for the mere fact that they can be done without any equipment except for a chair, perfect for those extremely lazy people to get started on some physical exercise.

An article about this exercise routine was first published in the New York Times and describes the “12 exercises deploying only body weight, a chair and a wall, [that] fulfills the latest mandates for high-intensity effort, which essentially combines a long run and a visit to the weight room into about seven minutes of steady discomfort — all of it based on science. ”

“There’s very good evidence” that high-intensity interval training provides “many of the fitness benefits of prolonged endurance training but in much less time,” says Chris Jordan, the director of exercise physiology at the Human Performance Institute in Orlando, Fla., and co-author of the new article.

The Workout

The 12 exercises of the Scientific 7-Minute Workout

The exercises should be performed in rapid succession, allowing 30 seconds for each, while, throughout, the intensity hovers at about an 8 on a discomfort scale of 1 to 10, Mr. Jordan says. Those seven minutes should be, in a word, unpleasant. The upside is, after seven minutes, you’re done.

Video demonstration

This is a workout video based on the workout published in the American College of Sports Medicine. It features the 12 30-second exercises with 10 second breaks between exercises.

According to The Guardian your living costs as a student will be in the region of pound;7,000 a year (more if you study in London), according to government figures, although some universities suggest a minimum budget of pound;8,000. Of course there are scholarships available to students who come from families on very low incomes and most students end up getting a part time job.

A separate article also from The Guardian says that four out of 10 students – 750,000 undergraduates – have a job while they study. But you shouldn’t work too hard, say the experts. Try to keep it to less than 15 hours a week in term time./em Some banks offer interest free loans but Kate White, the head of student advice and welfare at the University of West of England suggests you look carefully into how you are going to pay any loans back.

Students Enjoying A Drink In A Bar

Tricia Joyce, student financial support manager at Manchester Metro University says, managing your budget is a vital skill. Students only have three paydays -; one at the beginning of each term. It can be difficult to ensure the money lasts until the start of the next term. When you embark on student life, that first rush of freedom can leave an already-small budget even more depleted.

Tips To Stretch Your Student Budget

Learning to handle finances and get into your budgeting stride can take a while, so it makes sense to arm yourself with some sensible strategies from the off.

Second-hand books

As long as the information’s all present and correct, a few dog-eared pages and the odd pencil mark doesn’t matter a jot – in fact, past annotations can often be illuminating. Many universities have campus shops which sell on second-hand books at vastly reduced prices, or you could try placing an ad on the intranet or trawling Amazon and Ebay. Do, however, ensure all pages are present and correct, and you obtain an edition that’s current enough to include up-to-date information on key studies and new technology so you don’t miss out.

If your course entails significant materials costs, find out whether you can access funds to help with these. Research whether you can hire some items rather than purchasing, or perhaps pool funds with fellow students and either buy in bulk or share resources. Seek out warehouses and websites that deal in your subject area and sign up for updates and alerts on sales and end-of-line stock. Remember – as long as they’re fit for purpose, materials don’t need to be flashy or expensive.

Household kitties

Pooling money and time when it comes to chores, services and shopping can help stretch budgets, making those things inaccessible on a single revenue stream within reach. If you share a house, seek out an internet, television and phone deal you all contribute to, and divide housework via a rota – freeing up time for extra shifts to bring in extra cash! Even if you don’t live together, pair up with pals for food shopping and funds for nights in or out.

Meal deals

Spend a day scouting out the immediate area to home and uni for cheap places to eat. Look for those offering varied, somewhat healthy food that are a pleasure to eat rather than junk food joints with a few banal meal deals on permanent discount. Buffets at Asian restaurants are good options, and small independent cafes and neighbourhood restaurants often offer student-friendly set meals and happy hours in order to compete with chains for custom.

Learn to cook

A few basic kitchen skills will perhaps save you more money than anything else. Eating on-the-go can eat into a shoestring budget significantly, and even small swaps like carrying a flask of coffee instead of buying a daily cup or making a packed lunch over going to the canteen can add up to big savings. Larder ingredients like pasta and rice can be bought in bulk for far less than a single serving from a takeaway, will last longer, and can be prepared in endless ways.

Student benefits

As a student, you’ll have access to numerous discounts everywhere from high-street shops to stately homes. Sign up for an NUS card and carry it with you – you never know when you’ll encounter a saving merely by flashing your card. Google student deals in your area, and always ask if you’re eligible for a discount when paying an entry fee or a bill. Make use of your SU bar, where drinks, snacks and entertainment should be heavily subsidised.

Travel

As a student, you can obtain a railcard which provides discount fares on nationwide travel. But there’s also the option of reducing travel costs whilst getting fit – could you cycle, walk, run or even rollerblade rather than jumping on a bus or in the car? For longer journeys, many bus companies provide extremely competitive fares which compare incredibly favourably against either driving or taking the train.

Make ‘free’ your mantra

When it comes to fitness, leisure and cultural entertainment, there’s actually not much you need to pay for. Running or exercising at home can replace pricey gym membership; comedy night, quiz nights and free festivals are abundant; and free exhibitions and lectures are as diverse and illuminating as costly counterparts. Great days out don’t have to involve cash – try exploring a market, visiting local historic buildings and galleries, having a picnic or going to a fete.

Plan to plan

Use a free budgeting app, notebook or wall chart to account for and chart your outgoings. Plan what you can and can’t afford, and stick to it religiously. Ensure the money going out really does need to – get spending savvy by researching the best consumer deals on Which? and other service review forums, and try to negotiate contracts if they’re excessive.

Kitty Hastings is a lifestyle journalist from London with years of experience writing about personal finance, fashion and food. She personally uses the mobile banking app by Eccount Money, a leading UK provider of basic bank accounts geared towards people struggling with money issues. When Kitty isn’t writing for on- and offline publications across the UK, she loves nothing more than relaxing cup of tea and a great book.

Applying for college can be a very challenging experience. Not only do you want to be able to get into the first school on your list, but you also want to be able to maximize the amount of scholarship money that you receive.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed about the entire process, the good news is there’s more than one way to be successful at it. Even if you don’t have a perfect GPA or thousands of hours of community service, you can still get into a great school and secure a substantial amount of scholarship money.

The Best Way To Approach College Admissions

Since you’re probably wondering how to make that happen, let’s go over three proven techniques right now:

Take the ACT and/or SAT More than Once

According to the official ACT website, more than half the students who retake this test increase their composite score. The same is true for juniors who retake the SAT as a senior. As a result, it’s almost always worth taking either test twice. Since you’ll have a better idea of exactly what to study after taking either test for the first time, you’ll be able to really focus on the areas with the most room for improvement.

And if your nerves got the best of you the first time around, that’s far less likely to happen when taking either test for the second time. It’s also worth noting that even if your second attempt isn’t a huge improvement from the first, a small increase can be quite beneficial for both your college and scholarship applications.

Do Something Outside the Box

Standard high school activities are great. But if you really want to make an impression on admissions officers, taking the initiative to complete a significant project on your own is the best way to do it.

Although it’s great if you can get started when you’re a sophomore or junior, already being a senior doesn’t mean it’s too late to utilize this technique. The key is thinking about the special interest(s) you have, and then putting the unique knowledge amp; skills you’ve acquired to work in the form of an interesting project.

While it’s great if you can do something that has a positive impact, trying to change the world for the better isn’t an absolute requirement. Instead, whether you write a software program or conduct an aquatic research project, you just need to think outside the box and do something that will set you apart from the hundreds or thousands of other cookie-cutter applications.

Aim High (But Be Sure to Wear a Harness)

If you have one or two dream/reach schools, it’s absolutely worth your time to apply for them. Just be sure that you don’t let your ambition blind you. By also applying for at least a few schools where you’re 99% sure you’ll be accepted, you can ensure that you have options when the time comes to decide where you’re going to go.

I don’t think is a single job that doesn’t come with it’s own type and degree of stress. Some jobs however are a lot less pressurised than others and loss of life risks, dangers, long hours, constant demands and deadlines are fewer.

Top 10 Least Stressful Jobs

Here is a list of jobs that are regarded as having the least amount of stress.

Florist

Working with beautiful and lovely smelling flowers makes this a very nice job indeed. Being surrounded by nature at it’s best every day is inspiring. Flowers lift everyone’s mood and can brighten up a dull room or a dull day, and being a part of that process earns this job a spot on this list.

Dog Walker

If you love dogs and the outdoors then this is the job for you. A dog walker gets to exercise while working and can enjoy fresh air every day. Dogs are very non-discriminative and make great companions, never moaning or complaining and always happy.

University Professor

As bizarre as it may seem to make it on the list, this job doesn’t involve the responsibility of people’s lives, nor is their own life at risk. It’s not a physical job so they can really be in any physical shape they like and work in the comfort of a climate-controlled classroom. A big plus is enjoying the long school holidays.

Librarian

Working in a nice, clean and quiet environment certainly makes this job relaxing. Raised voices are a no-no here! Working with books and computers, and helping people seems like a pretty cool job.

Yoga Teacher

This has got to be one of the most relaxed jobs. Teaching clients how to ease their tension and breath better has got to a very rewarding, not to mention stress-free job. It probably doesn’t get much better than this.

Hair Stylist

Even though they are on their feet all day, they do get used to it and it has little effect on their day after a while. Cutting people’s hair and give them new styles and looks can be very uplifting, especially when clients are clearly delighted by their new reflection.

Jeweller

Being surrounded by beautiful objects really adds to the charm of this job. Who wouldn’t love looking at sparkling diamonds all day? Making people happy as they walk away smiling with their ‘precious’ purchase adds to the job satisfaction.

Tailor

One of the best things about this job is that your clients drop their garment off to be altered and the tailor gets to say when they will be ready for collection. Tailors usually own their own business and can afford to work flexible hours to suit.

Freelance Copy Editor

Again, the beauty of this type of job is the versatility when it comes to working hours. While they still have deadlines to meet, they can juggle their days and be as busy as it suits them. They also work in a nice peaceful and stress free environment – home – no risk of work accident claims as they’re at home behind a desk.

Early Childhood Teacher

Working with young, innocent minds and helping them develop and learn new skills has got to be a hugely rewarding job. Getting to play and be a ‘kid’ again makes this job a fun and happy one. Although a huge amount of patience is required, if you are that way inclined this could be the perfect job!s

So if you are finding your current career is stressing you out and you need a change, you might consider one of these options for a job with less pressures.

Martin Ryan has written for a variety of websites and is a quite relaxed person even though he doesn’t do any jobs on the list.

A well written essay in grammatically correct UK English is not hard to get after all! The art of essay writing lies in portraying the thoughts of the writer through appropriately placed words, which will express his thoughts just the way he wants his readers to perceive them, and this tedious task, is now no longer difficult to accomplish!

Simple And Successful Pathway To Efficient Essay Writing

So if you are busy studying or occupied in some other activity, but you have a lengthy essay assignment to complete, well you don’t have to worry about it at all, because it will be easily taken care of!

Few key point to keep in mind while essay writing

The essay to be written should be relevant and sustaining to the topic, and should not deviate from the subject at any point; else it becomes vague and loses focus. It should be kept in mind, while writing, that the essay is appropriately paragraphed and well formulated. The paragraphs should be linked in content, but separate in context. Repetition of terms and phrases should be avoided. The use of simple, yet catchy words is necessary in order to grasp the attention of the reader, and make the reading more pleasant and entertaining. But it should be seen to it that the placing and use of words and phrases is proper, and delivers the same meaning that the writer actually wants to depict, without making it difficult for the reader to comprehend.

Generating ideas

New and innovative ideas are always appreciated in any write up. A wide range or variety of ideas can be portrayed through writings, which can leave indelible impressions on the minds of the readers. The writer should try his best to think differently and inculcate his new thoughts through his writings. For example, it is not necessary to write only factual data related to the topic, but the writer can also include his views and opinions, as well as his personal experiences, if any, in order to make his essay or write up more interesting and impressive. He can also include stories relevant to the topic in his write up. But he should see to it that the technique of expressing his opinions is not too critical, otherwise the reader might perceive it as offensive, and immediately take a dislike to it.

Proofreading is critical

Proofreading

It is necessary for the writer to read his essay after he completes the writing. This will help him spot his mistakes, which may be grammatical errors, spelling errors, wrong use of phrases etc. Hence the proof reading, after writing, is crucial in the perfection of the write up. It removes all errors and improves the quality of the essay.

Essay writing service features

The essay writing service provides a wide range of efficient writers from several different fields and spheres, who have expertise in the art of writing. They ensure high quality content of the write up, and can write on any given subject or topic. Not only this, the feature offers bibliography, amendments, title page and suitable formatting, depending on the users needs. Deadlines can be met easily, and it is a convenient method of saving the user’s time

In the initial stages of management theory and practice, employees or workers were considered to be less human and were treated as machines. Over the years the attitude has changed and today the human resources of an organization is considered to be the best part of social beings.

Yes, we must know that men are social animals and they need to be treated as such. The classical theory of employees disliking work has been castigated and criticized with the passage of time and today the feelings and attitude of the employees holds a pivotal place in an enterprise.

Guiding The Efforts Towards Organizational Goals

Following the changes in industrial policies and the attitude towards the human resources, much emphasis has been rendered to ethical leadership and the management of human resources.

Why is ethical leadership an exigency of time?

Who is a leader? Is a leader the head or the boss of an organization? As Mary Parker Follett says; the task of the leader is to influence people and guide them towards the achievement of organizational goals. He may be the boss of the organization but his actions should not be the cause of the distaste of the employees.

On the contrary, a leader should have qualities through which he can preach ethics, morals, human values; he should be able to influence his subordinates in such a way that each employee feels valued. Further on, his spirit should lead towards the achievement of organizational goals, doubling his efforts for the greater good.

Ideally, he shouldnbsp; not be duly influenced by the external fear and pressure but rather be guided by his inner spirit, joy and satisfaction. It is of course the task of the leader to have a vision and a goal, in turn, inducing the zeal in subordinates to move towards common goals. Additionally, he must keep in mind that employees should be carefully nurtured and not crushed. Ethics and morality observed by the leader in the organizations must prove to be the inspiration of the subordinates.

How should the Human Resource be guided towards better productivity?

Irrespective of the nature of an organization, the ultimate aim remains the productivity. An organization is the aggregate of human and material resources and it’s imperative that these resources be managed efficiently and manipulated in such a way that the organization as a whole reaches the desired end.

But how should one manipulate these resources? Should there be sufficient external pressure to reach the target? Should there be a provision of reward for meeting the target and punishment for failure? Often one hears that if you manage the human resources well, the material resources will be managed spontaneously.

Human resources courses proves to be a crucial element of the organization. The deterioration of the heart of an employee is the beginning of the destruction of an organization. Employees are not machines devoid of any feelings; rather they are social animals and if you manage to maintain these feelings, the organization will be managed well.

If any organization has the perfect ethical leadership and efficient human resource management, it will surely achieve the desired goals otherwise the failure becomes an irrevocable destiny.

Colleges and universities in the United States are regarded as the best institutes when it comes to imparting world class education across the world. But most of the students complain about having to take up additional subjects that are not in any way related to their study majors. This way they end up spending a lot of money, time and effort on something that is not of much use in their course of study.

Removing General Subjects From The Curriculum Could Save A Lot Of Time And Money

Let’s explore this issue further in detail in this article.

Educational patterns in the United States

Most US universities and colleges have English composition courses incorporated with science majors and students with English majors are made to take up math classes and engineers with arts and crafts classes. Students and their parents feel incongruous with the current pattern of academic arrangements of such educational institutions.

Such academic policies of US institutions indirectly force students to take up certain classes to meet their academic requirements. Though this general educational curriculum is considered to be a benefit for ensuring the best college experience by the academicianrsquo;s aspects, students feel that they can spend their dollars in a better way, if alterations are considered in these aspects.

Advantages of incorporating general education with core academics

But there are still students and parents who consider this in a different way; they look at this opportunity as a means to test the other end of education and a way to explore the entire scholastic discipline.

A well-focused liberal education, covering other streams of education enhances the communication skills of the students effectively and inculcates problem solving skills in them.

All round development of the students should be a hallmark for any education system and in this way the general educational requirements prove to be advantageous for the core curriculum.

Disadvantages

Some students suggest that targeting courses outside their area of specialization raises their tuition fees by a considerable margin every year.

Also most students donrsquo;t seem to be interested in these classes and donrsquo;t wish to pay for them either.

Some argue that time spent on these general subjects could be directed in taking up additional classes as per one’s core specialty.

Some students feel that this time could be spent on working part time, to generate an additional income or concentrate on core family responsibilities.

There are some selected colleges and universities in the US that do not force students to take up extra subjects and also give them the liberty to explore their favoured subjects. But such universities are numbered and are usually ranked amongst the top lot of colleges when it comes to educational facilities.

Many schools in US also offer extreme flexibility to students in academics and offer extensive subject distribution facilities. These interdisciplinary subjects also allow students to perform activities that they are interested in.

Therefore, it is the responsibility of the students to tailor their degree programs precisely with few compulsory classes offered by educational institutes; also it is better to research well on the academic requirements of an institution before enrolling in

Going to college is a wonderful learning opportunity for students. From in-class lectures to distance learning courses, there are many ways to go about completing studies during this time period of your life. It’s equally as important to remember that learning also takes place out of the classroom. Keeping this in mind, students must teach themselves how to be smart with money while in college.

How Smart Students Save Money On College

Going to college is expensive in itself, so doing everything you can to keep the budget in check will be extremely valuable.

Don’t Buy New Textbooks

Shop in Advance

There is no reason to wait until the last minute to start preparing for college. There are basic supplies that will be needed no matter the field of study that a student chooses to enter into. From pencils, pens, computers, shower essentials and more, it is best to begin buying these items a year or two in advance. In doing so, the budget won’t seem so strained once the college years actually roll around. Additional items to shop for in advance include the following:

Microwave

Desk lamp

Bedding

Mini fridge

Towels

Clock radio

Watch for Sales

Both before and during college, it is smart to look for sales on school supplies, dorm essentials and more. By taking advantage of such sales, students will be sure to save hundreds of dollars, or even thousands, on their schooling necessities. A great time to catch sales is during tax season. Many retailers offer extremely valuable deals during this time of year because they know people have money for large purchases such as computers, laptops, printers, tablets and more.

Use Hand-Me-Downs

There is no shame in using a hand-me-down. Many times, students can find hand-me-downs free of charge. If not, they tend to be much less expensive than going out and buying completely new products. Great hand-me-downs to take advantage of include bed frames, dishes, transit passes, computer desks and more. If you don’t know someone ready to pass on an item you’re looking for, check local thrift shops or online resources such as Freecycle or Craig’s List. After the college years are over, it is important to continue the hand-me-down tradition.

Don’t Buy New Textbooks

One of the things that can break the bank are new textbooks. With some textbooks costing more than R2.717,37 ($300,) it only makes sense that students should purchase used books. Some online sites and book stores will even allow students to rent textbooks. In doing so, a student can save thousands of dollars every school year.

Buy a Car

While it may not seem very smart to make a large purchase while in college, especially when it comes to saving money, there is a great reason behind choosing to purchase a car. Of course, this tip should only be followed if needing a car is a necessity. If a student already has a working vehicle, it is best to save the funds. Now, on to purchasing a car. If a student has excess money left over from federal student loans, this is the money that should be used to purchase a car. Why? Because the funds don’t have to be paid back until a student graduates or drops below half-time enrollment status. Better yet, federal student loans are accompanied with a low interest rate. In fact, their interest rates tend to be less than those offered through traditional car loans.

When you’re planning to go to college, it’s important to consider more than just tuition and housing. Utilizing money saving tips before you even get to college will help you make the most of your budget and get you started on the right financial track.

College guidance counselor Sally Peterson enjoys helping students make the most of their college education. She feels that getting off on the right foot in college is very important and students should be utilizing all the resources available, such as College Degree Search.
